Hey bougie bruja babies, happy Saturn day! I hope you’re having a good weekend so far! I am back again with another article, and today, we’re going to plan our year ahead usings the planets and transits. I call this method “Using the planets to plan it.” So pay attention! Not only am I going to help each zodiac sign come up with a to-do list based on planetary timelines, I’m also going to tell you a bit about how I came to these conclusions based on our signs/elements, and the aspects they make with 2024 transits.

This article will help each sign figure out when it’s best for them to release content (videos, music, books, or merchandise), travel, make big physical appearance changes (cut hair, dye hair, get a tattoo, etc), when to purchase a big product (a home or car), when to change jobs, and much more. Now you may be wondering, why should I use the planets to plan shit? Why does it matter if I study the stars, a step by step guide from my favorite youtuber, or a calendar? Well I’ll tell you why– because WHY NOT? Stars light the way, even on the darkest of days and nights. It doesn’t hurt to try. And at least you’ll be organized!

So, what are transits?

Before we even begin learning the way I read transits and transit charts, you need to know what they are. A transit is where a planet is at any given time in the sky. Transits track the movement of a planet between zodiacs over a given amount of time. There are short term transits that can occur over the course of a few hours or a few days, and there are long term transits that occur over a few weeks or months. Transits form aspects, and aspects are the geometric angles and space between planets from each other. These aspects help us determine the influence that planets can have on our lives based on their distance from each other in the sky.

There are 5 main types of transits we generally cover in astrology:

Conjunction – 0 degrees apart

Sextile – 60 degrees apart

Square – 90 degrees apart

Trine – 120 degrees apart

Opposition – 180 degrees apart

The closer together that two planets are together, such as a conjunction or sextile, the more in harmony they are with each other. The further away two planets are from each other, the more the clash. For example, conjunctions are 0 to 10 degrees apart from each other. Planets that form conjunctions tend to be more at peace with each other in comparison to planets forming a square, which is 90 degrees apart, or an opposition which is 180. A planet directly across from you will tend to have more conflict than a planet right next to you.

Think about it like this. Say someone is standing 180 feet (or 60 yards) away from you. Let this represent an opposition– 180 degrees. For visual reference, this is the distance between home base and second plate on a baseball field, or half a football field. Would they be able to hear you talking to someone next to you? More than likely, no. If you have words on your t-shirt, they probably wouldn’t be able to see that either. You would have to project your voice pretty loudly for them to hear you, and even then, there may still be communication issues. This is versus someone being 1 foot away from you (to represent a conjunction). They’re probably sitting right next to you. They can hear you, see you, and respond to you loud and clearly. Was that clear?

So this is what transits are. The geometric distance between two planets on a given chart, like your birth chart.

So what’s a transit chart?

A transit chart is the comparison of two separate charts at any given time. This is most commonly between your birth date, and maybe today’s date, or another event in the past or near future. Maybe you want to see the transits of what happened the day you graduated or had your baby shower in comparison to your birth chart. Maybe you have a job interview coming up in the next week or two, and you want to see the transits on that day. You may want to see if any of the planets of today are making aspects with any of the planets in your natal charts. We want to see if there are any significant geometrical angles between these two charts that can possibly impact your day. A transit chart is how we make those comparisons. Then there are also orbs that show you the error of margin— the five or take of a couple degrees. They won’t always be exactly 180 or 90 degrees apart. So the orb lets us know how many degrees over or under it is. You can easily make a transit chart on astro.com or cafeasrtology.com to see those transits. But keep in mind, astro.com only gives the natal-transit chart itself, it does not explain the meaning. Cafeastrology tends to only give reading for long term transits since short term transits only last days or hours. Here are some examples of a natal transit chart of I did during the new moon, January 14th, 2024 at 12pm PT vs April 14th, 1999 at 4:44 pm (this is just a random date, nothing specific, but for education purposes, pretend this is your chart).

As we can see from the charts above, we have a transit Capricorn sun squaring your Aries sun. And as an Aries with this square, this may mean you’ll have some conflicting energies today. Maybe you’re not really feeling like your normal self today. Maybe it’s cold where you live, and you’re not really feeling this Capricorn winter. I mean you are an April fire sign after all! You may be wishing it was warmer outside. It could mean you’re lacking energy today and you’re not really feeling that happy, healthy, sustained eating earth sign energy can emit. Maybe it’s a lazy sunday for you and you just want to pop a hot pocket in the microwave or a pizza in the oven and call it a day. We see this transit Aquarius moon is training your natal mars today suggesting this lazy Sunday could be very good for recharging your energy. You may be wishing you were outside being social, but this break may be much needed.

Basically, that’s all a transit chart reading is. The comparison of planets and the aspects they make between one date, generally a past date/birth date, and another date. It’s essentially putting the two charts together. It’s like seeing where the planets are today, vs where the planets were on the day you were born, and whether or not they make geometric shapes that influence each other. For example, we all know about synastry charts right? When we take our chart, and our partner’s birth chart, and we read the aspects they make together, to see where we have harmony and where we could have conflict? It’s essentially the same thing. So if that’s how you read transits, you may be wondering, how do you read transits the bougie bruja way?

This is how I personally read transits in my birth chart in comparison to a daily celestial chart:

Essentially, I just find my chart within a chart, without making a transit chart to compare the two. All I need is the chart for the day in question, and my own birth chart pulled up in a separate tab. I then look for traits of my own zodiac signs within that chart to help me. Sometimes I may be wondering what my relationships with my loved ones will look like on this day, so I’ll have their charts pulled up as well. And you really want to play around with it. Don’t be so orthodox. For example, if you have a Capricorn moon and the moon isn’t in Capricorn, we can still see if your moon will still somehow be affected by the transits in a regular daily chart. Like if Capricorn is in Venus this month, and it has a square to the Aries moon at 27 degrees, and maybe your mom has an Aries moon. You can still take a look at venus for possible predictions of how today will go. Even though capricorn is in venus, and YOU aren’t a capricorn venus specifically, it still represents the planet of love and loved ones, including parental relationships. And if you still live at home with your parents, the moon can represent how you interact with them. You’ll essentially be able to see if today’s energy is more peaceful or problematic. Because in this hypothetical chart, Aries moon is squaring Capricorn Vanus, so we could see that there will be conflict in the homelife between you and your mother today. Maybe she’s a bit more on edge and it’s affecting you somehow. Even though you aren’t a capricorn venus, maybe you can read this as she needs a little bit more love and patience from you at home today. Maybe make her bed as a surprise, or bring her a cup of hot tea. Consider making her dinner tonight or just sitting with her to give her company. Even though you may be at peace because there are no squares in correlation to your specific signs planets in today’s chart, you can still be affected by it. That said, you can use the signs you do see that are yours in today’s chart to help you find solutions to the problem.

Here’s another example. Taurus may be in Mercury today and Pluto may be in Scorpio, but you’re not a Taurus Mercury, you’re a Taurus Saturn. And you’re not a Scorpio Pluto, you’re a Scorpio moon. You can still look to see if there are any aspects in this Taurus Mercury alone that can cause any potential communication problems that may arise today, ESPECIALLY because mars rules anger, and squares and oppositions suggest chaos and conflict. Maybe this Taurus Mercury is opposing Scorpio Pluto today, suggesting people with those signs have a reluctance to change their communication skills for the betterment of their future self. But since your Taurus is in Saturn, the planet of responsibility and discipline, for you this may mean you may have a hard time connecting with your ancestors and can’t hear them as well today. Instead, you decide to be a bit more strict today to ensure you indulge in your spiritual practices and make sure this Taurus mercury – Scorpio Pluto opposition doesn’t affect you. Maybe you sage, journal, meditate, yoga, AND pray today rather than doing one or two things like you might in a given work day. Regardless of if any of your signs are in the planet in mind or not, you still want to read that daily chart. And you may say:

“Even though I’m not a Taurus Mercury and am a Taurus Saturn, I do see that there are Taurus mercury oppositions today with Scoprio Pluto that can affect my mood, decisions, responses, reactions, or environment. That said, it’s possible I may lack discipline today when it comes to my own spiritual practices and feel a bit disconnected from the spirit world. This is because Pluto is the planet of change and transformation and Mercury is the planet of communication and intellect. Using my Scorpio moon, I’ll connect to my ancestors on a higher vibration through tarot, meditation work, or scrying to see why I feel this way. Maybe it’s this Scorpio Pluto opposition to Taurus mercury having an affect on my Taurus Saturn and Scorpio moon. It’s clouding my intuition and judgment today and making me feel like the future is out of my hands, that said, I’m going to pick up my cards and connect to my ancestors as a reminder that it is my hands.”

Does this make sense? Haha, welcome to my ADHD mind. This is how it works. But you know what? This method WORKS! Let’s just say I’ve helped clients avoid conflicts and even go viral just by looking at astrological aspects and transits. I’ve helped them find resolutions to foretold fights, and helped them plan when to post for the most engagement. And it works!! I go deeper into detail with more examples and charts here: https://www.bougiebrujas.com/product/how-to-use-the-planets-to-plan-sht-how-to-read-transits/

Feel free to download this link and you’ll get a whole lesson plan with even more detail and examples. This is just the free version. But again, you’re essentially just finding characteristics and qualities of your birth chart in a daily chart, without reading the direct transits. I feel like this method, though unorthodox, can actually tell you more than a traditional transit reading can. Especially if you’re using a site that only uses long term transits like cafe astrology, or a site that doesn’t explain the transit meanings like astro.com.

That said, here are a few dates that I channeled using my method of astrology that could be good for releasing content and getting beauty makeovers. These dates can be read for your Sun, Moon, Rising, Venus, Mars, Jupiter AND Neptune!! Sun, Moon, and Rising can be read generally. Read Venus for beauty (hair cuts/hair color/makeovers), Mars for good days to get tattoos or piercing, and Jupiter and Neptune for good days to post content.  If you’d like to read channeled dates for making big purchases such as cars or homes, they will also be available in the downloaded link. You’ll read SMRV or Jupiter for those dates. And again, the downloadable link goes into a detailed lesson plan with more chart examples, what these dates mean, why it’s a good day to post/change appearance/make a purchase, and how I came to these conclusions aspect wise.

Here’s the link again:
